I Have Forgiven you Johnny Rotten-- some druidical health advice

That's the Sex Pistols, Never mind the Bollocks Johnny Rotten! WHY, Johnny? WHY???

First thing, here's a link to some important nutrition facts from Myspace acquaintance and online author Mal aka Scabwalker.

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog....

Some of his content is reproduced below before I start my sermonizing. Though being the editing type I fixed his English, nahnahnah.

I do research on this subject just for shits and giggles.

I've been doing some research and found out that multivitamins are under scrutiny all over the world. Thousands of them are being yanked from the shelves because of the bad reactions people are having to them. Just so you know, pill-form multivitamins, for the most part take up to 2 weeks for the body to fully absorb. Some vitamins and minerals are water soluble, and some are fat soluble. That means they get absorbed into the body at different rates. It also depends on other factors, such as the oxalate levels in your body. Oxalate (a.k.a. ethanedioate) is a toxic salt found in leafy greens like greasewood, sorrel and spinach that bonds to calcium and iron. As a result, your body expells 90% of the calcium, rather than absorbing it. It's also a contributing factor to gout and kidney stones. Yes, people praise Spinach because of its high levels of Vitamins A (and lutien), E, C, K, Magnesium, opioid peptides, rubiscolins and folic acid (Vitamin B9). However, it also has alarming amounts of oxalate. You're better off eating broccoli; the body retains about half the iron from that, instead of a meager 10%. It's been theorized that upping your dosage of Vitamin C could somewhat counter the oxalate effect, but increased doses could cause other health concerns.

The info they have on human reactions to these pills is limited. Most testing is done on animals, and we all know that doesn't work. Most animals can ingest and process things we can't, even if we have similar nervous systems. Because companies are eager to get them out, or unwilling to spend the dough on human studies, people have adverse reactions. Not just with multivitamins either: hundreds of medicines have been pulled off the market because they've caused serious unforseen conditions in people, even death.

Also, people think more is better, but they're wrong. If your body doesn't need it, overdosing on a certain vitamin or mineral can be disastrous. That's why I suggest that if you want to take multivitamins, to have bloodwork done and find out exactly what it is you need. With this info, the doctor can better help you by telling you exactly what you need to raise. If you're looking for energy, you may not need pills; foods rich in protein like peanut butter and avacado, and B vitamins like broccoli and beans might be best.

I still recommend you click on the link to Mal's post above because he has cited and linked to his sources.  They are reputable. Also there is backstory about a friend of his who managed to poison herself with multivitamins.

Sermon starting take cover--

It is often difficult to tell nutrition from poison.  We all need salt, but you can overdose on that as well.  What's more, every individual needs different amounts for optimum function, depending on activity and environment.  In the tropics they tell gringos to take salt pills. If you have high blood pressure like moi, a poisonously salty food is merely delicious to my naturally low-blood pressured ex and offspring.

Oversupply of manganese, an essential nutrient, causes  a disease known as manganism.  We have to watch out for it where I now live because it is naturally prevalent in our soils, including some local aquifers. Other parts of the state have high background lead levels, or of iron or asbestos or copper. Those living around farms have to monitor for excessive nitrates, which are a common substance in many foods.  And if we stay in our cellars too much, the radon can give us cancer, while the ultraviolet we need to process our vitamin D burns us and gives us other cancers. And tinfoil hats are not enough to stop all those gamma ray permutations!

Then there's the debate about whether eating animal products is bad for us.  As we're mammals, we start out on mother's milk, which is very sugary and condemns us all to crave sweets for the rest of our lives.  The proteins in other animals' milk is a staple in some cultures and indigestible in others.  Lactose and casein aside, every ethnic background arose to make use of the local staples, whatever they were.

Certainly the ability of individuals to handle the cholesterol in animal fats varies greatly. That doesn't mean that palm oil, which is even harder at room temperature, is less bad for those with this inability to handle it.  It's not a processing problem at all; our bodies need a certain amount of cholesterol and will even produce it if there isn't enough. It's just that many of us are too good at making cholesterol out of whatever the body is handed as raw materials.

Okay, then, let's just consider what Johnny Rotten wants us to eat here. It's delicious, and it's not illegal. It's probably bad for you though or he wouldn't be trying to get us to eat it. Because I do NOT believe that John Lydell has quit being a trickster, oh no.

Consider hypothetically what it would be like to be called to breakfast by a contrasting rock icon, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth:

"Hey, droogs, represent-- I made coffeee here get it before it's gone. it's kickass Kona, droogs. Also that prince of foods-- tha Muffinnnnn!"

It is safe to say that Mr. Mustaine means what he says.  Our hypothetical Johnny Rotten does not state the obvious.

"Has mum's little mistake had his caffeine yet? No? well then off with you-- and take that disgusting scone with you!"

Typical British double speak here.  The person addressed most likely did not do as ordered but rather helped themselves to the items mentioned at their leisure.

That is why I forgive Johnny Rotten for wishing me death by butter. He's merely wanting the stupid sheeple who will do what he says to be thinned out by natural selection, making way for survival of coyotes like himself.  AS the Flying Spaghetti Monster has decreed: More Pirates!

I come from a dairying race, the Finns. But the Finns also have a very high rate of heart disease. The Kalevala exhorts young maidens to eat plenty of butter so that they are fat and sleek enough to attract men.  That isn't hard to achieve like in the old days, now that we aren't subsistence farmers at the fringes of the boreal forests. Balances have shifted.
